Topic: Navigating the Amusement Park
Description: I will share my journey and no-holds-barred testimony on navigating in and out of singleness to oneness with God. I will compare my life experiences to a visit to the amusement park: from the lure of the entrance to merry-go-rounds, smoke and mirrors, adrenaline-packing chill rides, roller coasters, the thirty-foot rip-snorting ridge that puts you in a chute and drops you, bumper cars, hydration stations, games, sugar taste good treats, entertainment, to break from the chaos to relaxing rides and beautiful tour.
The focus of this talk will be to discuss acknowledging your pain, finding hope in despair, steps to rebuilding, and ultimately finding Intimacy with Jesus in this most unusual place.
Bio: Deborah is a blood-bought, gratefully saved woman of God, the bride of Christ, widowed single mother, daughter, sister, aunt, spiritual friend, and countrywoman. She is also a licensed social worker.

Topic: Boundaries for Single Adults
Description: We will have a dialogue about boundaries for Single Adults based on The New York Times bestseller Boundaries, which is the landmark book written by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend that has transformed millions of individual lives, marriages, families, and organizations. Many people focus so much on being loving and unselfish that they forget their limits and limitations. Setting clear boundaries is essential to a healthy, balanced lifestyle. A boundary is a personal property line that marks the things for which we are responsible. Boundaries define who we are and who we are not. Drs. Cloud and Townsend offer biblically-based answers and show how to set healthy boundaries with your spouse, children, friends, parents, co-workers, and even yourself!
Bio: Jennie is a child of God, a divorced mother of four, a singles leader with Genesis Christian Singles, the treasure for Food for the Cure, plus a member of BSF and former Missions Liaison. Jennie greatly loves God and the Word of God, her Savior and teacher, Jesus Christ, and the blessings of the Holy Spirit. We are most fortunate that the death of Jesus provides the free gift of salvation; we are called to walk in ways that honor. We were blessed, and we are free indeed! To love others is to be the way of Christ-Followers.

Minister Wanda McWilliams, Charlotte NC
Topic: Waiting and Serving While Single
Description: This topic will engage Single Adults in conversation about understanding God's plan for our lives. If Single Adults desire to be married, it is important that we do not put our lives on hold while waiting for God to send us a spouse. Further, we need to serve in our churches and communities instead of placing our lives on hold while we are single.
Bio: Min. Wanda is the business owner of Serenity Comfort and Care Services PLLC. The practice is located in Charlotte, North Carolina, and she is getting her credentials in South Carolina. Her caseload consists of Individuals needing marital premarital counseling as well as Singles looking for counseling as they navigate the challenges in their lives. She was married for six years and was divorced in August 1997. She has been celibate since her divorce and understands the challenges, thoughts, and beliefs that face singles. She has facilitated workshops and groups designed to assist singles in adopting healthy, productive narratives pertaining to their singleness and wholeness in God. She provides services to non-married couples and married couples, as well. She is in the process of writing curricula focusing on spiritual and mental health. She is also researching content for her upcoming podcast, "Walking in Wellness," which will include conversations around achieving and maintaining healthy relationships and a healthy sense of self. Min Wanda is also a Domestic Violence Advocate and Sex Trafficking Advocate. She desires to teach skills and strategies to individuals on how to overcome past trauma and situations that may be preventing them from fulfilling their purpose in God as a single first. She believes there may be some bending and stretching, but it does not have to lead to a complete break. If there is a break, it can be repaired when we put in the work. With God, all things are possible. Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind and to set at liberty them that are bruised.

Topic: Deep Questions
Description: We will discuss some thought-provoking questions that will challenge us to think about ourselves and our relationship with Jesus. We will refer to specific scriptures to reinforce God's desire for us and to aid us in answering the questions. The goal and prayer is for each person at the table to grow in their understanding of themselves and God's desire for them.
Here are some questions:

He has four grown children and three grandchildren. Jim feels humbled and undeservingly blessed! God has watched over him and protected him his entire life! He feels he is only alive and healthy because of God's grace and love for him…and the journey is not done. Jim was finally water-baptized on Easter Sunday, 2023. His hope and prayer for the Labor Day Singles Retreat is that you are as touched and moved as he was last year!

Further, we need to be serving in our churches and communities instead of placing our lives on hold while we are single.

Bio: He was born and raised in Gary, Indiana. He was saved at 18 in Lima, Ohio, at a 2-year technical college. He joined the US Army at 23 and got stationed in NC. He left in 1989 and remained in NC—34 years in Cary and the last 2 in Clayton. He has worked for the Federal Government as a subcontractor and owned a home improvement company.

Jennie Fowler, Kansas City, MO
