Description: Would you like to be part of a thriving and healthy community of fellow single friends? Join me for a discussion on how my friends and I created a group like this in just a few months. This ministry reaches what had been a lesser involved demographic of predominantly Christian singles in Asheville and its surrounding areas, helping to draw them into a healthy community. Heidi has an adorable cat named Bingley and enjoys reading, playing music, and hiking as some of her pastimes.

Topic: SPICE UP your Daily Devotion with God
Description: It’s true—spending daily time with God is essential for living a victorious, grounded life, especially when life’s challenges come our way. But like any relationship, our time with God can become routine if we’re not intentional. Come to this workshop to learn how to SPICE UP your daily time with God and deepen your love for Him each day.
Bio: Donna Holmes has been single all her life. In her late twenties, God challenged her to live her life to the fullest, whether married or single. In my thirties, I began seeking ways to serve God as a single adult within the church. I was active with our singles group within the church (at that time, the church had a singles minister) and reached out to our denomination district to inquire about the singles ministry in our district. Soon, I found myself leading our district singles ministry. Realizing in my thirties that singleness may be my life direction, I started concentrating on my career. God directed this area in my life, and soon found myself moving around not only to different communities but also to different states. Everywhere I moved, I first saw a church and then started meeting singles within the community. God blessed both my ministry to singles and my career as a software designer and project leader.

Topic: Facing Uncertainty as a Single Person: Finding Peace when Life is Scary.
Description: The struggle is real. Uncertainty is scary for everyone, but when you're single, it can feel even more amplified.• You have only one income, not two.
• You might not have support to fall back on—whether it's physical, emotional, or financial.
• The feeling that ‘it’s all on me to figure it out.’
• We often have to make big decisions on our own, but we really don’t have to—they can come to God personally and depend on His promises.
• We can learn to identify the enemy's lies and recognize his patterns in our own lives.
Bio: I live in Mars Hill, NC, and attend Biltmore Church in Arden. I was born again at the age of 9 and gave my heart to the Lord during Vacation Bible School. I was married once and divorced in 2006. The Lord has faithfully never left me, guiding and protecting me through some challenging times. I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder around 2006 and have learned to find peace amid uncertainty. I have made significant progress with the help of the Holy Spirit, God’s word as my authoritative source, and godly counseling. I am an Exceptional Children’s Teacher, and I teach 7th graders with learning disabilities.

Stella Davis, Hendersonville, NC
Topic: Care-giving for Those You Love
Description: Taking care of someone you love who has dementia or another life-threatening disease can be taxing. Whether it's your spouse, sibling, child, parent, or friend, some days of victory can quickly be overshadowed by many days of defeat. Come to this open discussion of how to care for the one you love by taking care of yourself. We welcome existing caregivers (even those in a facility), those who have cared for others in the past, and those who anticipate needing care.
Bio: Stella Davis is not a nurse or in the health care field; however, she cared for her mother for several years in her home and her husband, who had Alzheimer's, cancer, and heart disease for nine years. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and she loves to help others who are going through similar circumstances. She is a mother of four and a grandmother of five. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

One of my favorite parts of the retreat attending the Lunch and Learns on Saturday and Sunday. I have been a speaker for the last few years. I loved getting to know those at my table better.
