Beach Day at Lake Lure
Float in the cool water, slide down the water slide, take a nap or rent a canoe, kayak or paddleboard while being surrounded by the mountains. You can also visit the Lake Lure Inn or the Flowering Bridge. Cost: $10.00 beach access; Bring: a change of clothes, towel, backpack, water/snack, and money for dinner. Rent a Canoe for $ 17.00 or a Kayak or Paddleboard for $18.00 an hour from the Washburn Marina at 828-625-1373. You can also visit the Lake Lure Inn or the Flowering Bridge. Important Information: Lifeguards on duty. No refunds due to bad weather after arrival. Coolers are permitted; however, glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Oversized floats are not permitted. Snorkels are not permitted. SIGN UP Pisgah National Forest, Moore Cove Falls Hike The trail is 1.5 miles one way, fairly flat, and crosses creeks. You get to walk behind a waterfall cave & wade in the water. This national forest is home to the first tract of land purchased under the Weeks Act of 1911, which led to the creation of the national forests in the eastern United States. Cost: Free to hike; Bring: a backpack, water/snack, hiking shoes, and money for dinner. SIGN UP Western NC Air Museum & optional Helicopter Rides Preserving and promoting North Carolina's flying heritage is home to this unique collection of airplanes celebrating the Golden Age of Aviation and the decades surrounding the Second World War. Outdoor Pool: The pool is a central hub of activity during the summer. Guests of all ages enjoy the opportunity to swim and relax. Pool Saturday 1:00-5:00pm and Sunday, 2:00-5:00pm.
Hammocking: You are welcome to bring your hammock and hang it up at various locations through the campus. Bonclarken Lake: Enjoy walking around it. Due to limited staff, the kayaks and paddle boats are not available for use. Athletic Fields/Courts: Available year-round on a first-come, first-served basis: The athletic fields provide ample space for all kinds of outdoor activities and field games including volleyball, soccer, and tennis. Disc Golf Course: Bonclarken’s 18-hole disc golf course travels through wooded areas, open fields, and across streams. As a great, low impact activity, the course is very popular with all ages. Birding: Bonclarken offers a variety of habitats including creeks, meadows, marshland, and wooded areas to observe birds and other wildlife. Click here for area birding information Gift Shop: A visit to the Bonclarken Gift Shop is a special trip indeed! Souvenirs and Bonclarken apparel items are available, as well as unique handmade items and gifts donated to Bonclarken by Women Ministries groups from Associate Reformed Presbyterian churches.
