1. What should I bring for my room, and what’s provided?

Our greeters and parking attendants will be there to direct you and answer any questions. We also encourage you to download the campus map before you arrive so you'll be familiar with the layout.
The hotels, Minister Apartments, Faith Apartments, and the dining hall are all located just up the hill from the YAB. It's an easy walk, but you're also welcome to drive if you prefer.
If you're staying in the Bunkhouse, please park in the designated parking area near the pool and campground.

4. Can I request a roommate or a ride from the airport (other city)?
Yes! If you're looking for a roommate, want to share a ride, or need transportation from the airport or another city, please post your request on our Facebook page or the GroupMe app (which you were invited to download after registering). While we can't guarantee roommates or transportation, we'll do our best to help connect attendees. If you don't use Facebook or GroupMe, simply email us at [email protected], and we'll see how we can assist. If you're unable to find a ride, Uber and other rideshare services are also available in the area.
Also, new this year, once you are registered, you will receive an invitation to join our private retreat GroupMe. This group is a great way to stay connected before the retreat and will allow you to:
5. How do I pay?
7. When can I sign up for excursions? Excursions are posted to view, but only registered attendees can actually sign up. We recommend signing up because some are limited in space. Can I sign up at the retreat? Yes, as long as we have spots available.
Note: This year, we encourage registered attendees to use our GroupMe app to connect with others for both planned, leader-led excursions and personal outings. While we offer several organized excursions, there are many incredible places in the area that are not feasible to visit with a large group. GroupMe makes it easy to connect with others who may want to explore together, especially those who are coming down a day early or staying an extra day*.
Popular nearby destinations include Biltmore House, DuPont Falls, and Lake Lure. GroupMe lets you coordinate rides, form small groups, and share these experiences together while building community.
8. Can I come early or stay an extra night? Yes! If you'd like to arrive before the retreat begins or stay an additional night afterward, you're welcome to do so, based on availability. The cost is $96.50 per person, per night, and you may stay in the same lodging you've already booked for the retreat.

9. Do I need to sign up for devotions (Sat/Sun)? No—just show up.
10. Do I need to sign up for Breakfast, Lunch & Learn sessions? No. Seating is first-come, first-served in the lower dining hall. If you need help carrying your meal downstairs, contact the leader, Julie Moore, at 407-733-0678 or ask a greeter. Also, some of the Lunch and Learns have been extended an extra hour.
11. Can I volunteer? Yes, we’d love your help! Areas include greeting, parking, prayer team, hospitality, silent auction, registration, setup/cleanup, and more. After registering, you’ll receive a sign-up link. We request at least 1 hour of assistance on one day.

13. What is the schedule? The schedule may shift slightly as we get closer.
14. How can I support the retreat beyond my registration?
18. Can I fish on the lake? Yes! Fishing is permitted anytime during daylight hours. Please bring your own fishing equipment and be considerate of others enjoying the lake. You do not need a North Carolina fishing license to fish in the lake.
19. Can I bring my own kayak or similar to use on the lake? Yes, but only on Sunday from 2:00-5:00, while a lifeguard is on duty.
20. Are there any rules regarding the pool? Yes. The pool is open only when lifeguards are on duty: Saturday from 1:00–5:00 PM and Sunday from 2:00–5:00 PM. Please note the following pool rules:
21. Where is the closest airport? The closest airport is Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), which is about 35 minutes from Bonclarken. Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) in Greenville, SC, is another great option and is about 1 hour away. If you're looking for additional flight options, Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) is approximately 2 hours from Bonclarken.
If you'll need a ride from the airport, be sure to post your request in our Facebook group or GroupMe app to connect with other attendees who may be arriving around the same time.
22. What if I arrive after 10pm on Friday? Please contact us at [email protected] for late check-in instructions.
23. I have a food allergy or special dietary needs. When you register, you will receive a form where you can let us know about any food allergies or special dietary needs. We will do our best to accommodate them.
The meal package (2 breakfasts and 2 lunches) is included in the registration fee for those staying on campus. However, you are welcome to bring your own food to enjoy in the dining hall if needed.
Most campus accommodations have access to a shared refrigerator. Founders South is the only exception. The Minister Apartments and Faith Apartments each have a full refrigerator in the apartment.
On Friday evening, we will provide a selection of gluten-free and sugar-free snacks. If you have other dietary restrictions, please feel free to bring your own specialty snacks. If you'd like, you're also welcome to bring enough to share with others who may have similar dietary needs.
24. Can I leave campus, skip a session or excursion? Absolutely! This is your retreat, and you're free to come and go as you choose. That said, we encourage everyone to attend the main sessions, as they are the heart of the weekend, and to arrive on time so you don't miss anything or distract others once the session has begun.
If you participate in an excursion, please be mindful of the departure and return times. Also, out of courtesy to our speakers and fellow attendees, we ask that you silence or turn off your cell phone during all sessions.
25. Where can I park? Each lodging area has its own designated parking lot. If you are staying in the Bunkhouses, please park in the lot near the pool. Additional parking is available on the grassy areas near the pool and the Youth Activity Building (YAB). Please park only in designated areas and avoid blocking roads, driveways, or emergency access routes.
26. Is Wi-Fi available? Yes! Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout most of the campus. You will receive the network name and password when you check in. Please keep in mind that with several hundred attendees using the network throughout the weekend, internet speeds may be slower than usual, especially during peak times.
27. This is my first time. What if I don't know anyone? Don't worry—you won't be alone! Every year, many attendees come by themselves, and one of the greatest blessings of the Labor Day Singles Retreat is how quickly strangers become friends.
Here are a few ways to help you connect:
28. Can I bring guests to meals, the dance, or sessions? Unfortunately, no, not unless they pay to attend.
29. Is the retreat available online? No. We do not livestream, record, or post the retreat sessions online. Because of the interactive nature of the weekend—including worship, teaching, small-group discussions, fellowship, and personal connection—the retreat is best experienced in person. We hope you'll join us on campus to receive the full benefit of everything the weekend has to offer!
30. What happens if it rains? The retreat goes on—rain or shine! If we experience rain, some outdoor excursions or activities (such as the pool or lake) may be canceled, postponed, or modified depending on the weather. We'll communicate any schedule changes as quickly as possible.
The good news is that there are still plenty of opportunities to have fun and connect. Our meeting space in Young Lodge will be open for games, fellowship, conversation, and other indoor activities. So even if the weather doesn't cooperate, you'll still have a great weekend!
31. Is there a bookstore or merchandise? Yes! Be sure to visit our bookstore and merchandise area in the YAB (Youth Activity Building) throughout the weekend.
You'll find Bible studies and resources by Kris Swiatocho and Pastor Freddy Johnson along with a variety of ministry resources, gift items, hats, T-shirts, and other retreat merchandise. Every purchase helps support the ministry and allows us to continue encouraging and equipping singles throughout the year.

32. What is the age range of people attending? We have singles of all ages, but the majority are 35-70. To see some pictures of the last few years, click here.
33. Can I attend if I have mobility issues? Yes, all of the buildings are mobility accessible with the exception of the upstairs Minister's apartments, Faith Apartments, and Memorial Hall (it has 3 levels but no elevator). You are also welcome to drive back and forth from your hotel to the YAB and other meeting areas. Our volunteer staff is also available to assist.
34. What is included with my registration? Your retreat registration includes a full weekend designed to help you grow spiritually, build meaningful friendships, and have a lot of fun! Your registration includes:
35. Will photos be taken? Photos and videos will be taken throughout the weekend by our volunteer photography team and other attendees for use on our website, social media, and future promotional materials. While we hope to capture everyone at some point, we can't guarantee that every attendee will be photographed.
We'd love to see the retreat through your eyes, too! Please share your favorite photos throughout the weekend by posting them on our Facebook page or GroupMe app. You can also email your pictures to [email protected]. Thank you for helping us capture the memories!
36. Will there be any medical assistance at the retreat? Bonclarken does not have medical staff on site. However, we are grateful to have Debbie Davis, our volunteer nurse, available to assist with minor medical needs, and Michelle Hipp, our on-site counselor, if you need someone to talk with or pray with during the weekend. Once you arrive, we will provide a campus emergency number as well as other contact numbers.
We also have a caring prayer team available, including Pastor Freddy Johnson, Kris Swiatocho, Pastor Wes Reed, Pastor Bryan Hipp, and Pastor Jay George. If you need prayer, encouragement, or assistance of any kind, please let one of our retreat leaders know, and we'll be happy to connect you with the appropriate person.
37. Will there be any kind of security at the retreat? For your safety, Bonclarken Security and our Retreat Team Security will be on campus throughout the retreat. In the event of a medical emergency, please call 911 immediately, then notify one of our retreat leaders so we can assist as needed. We do ask that you fill out the Bonclarken waiver.
38. What if I lose something while at the retreat? If you misplace an item, please check the Lost & Found, located at the YAB Information Table. If you find something that doesn't belong to you, we'd appreciate it if you'd turn it in there so we can help reunite it with its owner.
Note: Please keep track of your personal belongings throughout the weekend. Bonclarken Conference Center, The Singles Network Ministries, and Kris Swiatocho Ministries are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property or for any damage to vehicles while on campus. We encourage you to lock your vehicle, keep valuables with you or secured, and label any items you bring. .[Click here for Bonclarken policies].
39. What time does the retreat end on Monday? 9:30 am: Check out and breakfast in the YAB: Leave your key on a table in your room, or, if you are going to breakfast*, bring it to the YAB. Note: If you do not return your keys by check-out or lose your key, you will be billed $5 per room per person.
*Breakfast by Eggs Up Grill in the YAB for those who pre-paid for this meal (deadline is Sept 2nd, 2026); you are welcome to bring your own meal and join the fellowship. The coffee bar is open till 10:30 AM. 10:30 AM: Clean up/Closed

- Bonclarken housing (Founders North/South, Young Lodge, Memorial, Ministers Apartments, Faith Apartments): Be sure to pack your personal toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hairdryer, and any other items you use daily. Your room will include linens, towels, plastic cups, bar soap, and toilet paper. You're also welcome to bring your favorite pillow, blanket, extra towels, or anything else that will help make your stay more comfortable. Helpful Extras: We recommend bringing a few over-the-door hooks to hang towels or clothing, especially if you're sharing a room. An extension cord or power strip is also a great idea so roommates can easily share electrical outlets for charging phones and other devices.
- Rooms do not have TVs or landlines, but free Wi-Fi is available (details given on arrival).
- Bunkhouses: Bring all linens (sheets, blankets, pillows, towels) and toiletries. Each person staying in the bunkhouses will get a key. Note: Please let us know if you are flying and staying in the bunkhouse.
- Hotel & Bunkhouse Amenities: Each hotel and bunkhouse (except Founders South) has a common area with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Please bring your own coffee and filters if you'd like to use the coffee maker. You're also welcome to bring a small coffee maker for your room. Kindly label any food you place in the community refrigerator. All apartments are fully equipped with dishes, a refrigerator, stove, microwave, and coffee maker.
Note: Coffee will also be provided at the YAB during scheduled times. - Ice: Ice machines are located in Founders North and The Young Lodge. Feel free to bring a small cooler for your room and refill it with ice as needed.
- Sodas: Soda machines are available throughout the Bonclarken campus.
- Water: Refillable water stations are conveniently located throughout campus, including the hotels, Headspring Pavilion, the Back Porch, and the YAB (our main meeting space). We encourage you to bring a refillable water bottle. Complimentary disposable water bottles will be available on Friday evening only.
- What else should I pack? In addition to your clothes and personal items, here are a few things that will help you make the most of the weekend/
-A lawn chair
-Bug spray
-Pool towel
-Blanket or light coat (especially for the bonfire)
-Sunscreen
-Flashlight (our campus is dark in areas)
-Long pants and hiking shoes/boots (if you're planning to hike)
-Jacket, umbrella, or raincoat
-Games to enjoy in the lodge or at the Back Porch
-Snacks for yourself—and if you'd like, bring shareable bought or homemade snacks for everyone! Please drop them off at the designated tent outside the YAB by 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
-Items to donate for our Silent Auction or Door Prizes (always appreciated!) Please drop them off at the designated tent outside the YAB by 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
-And don't forget... Saturday night's dance has a Country Western theme! Dust off your boots, grab your cowboy hat, and join us for a fun evening together. One more tip: Mountain evenings can be surprisingly cool, so be sure to pack a sweatshirt or light jacket—you'll be glad you did!

Photos and videos will be taken throughout the weekend by our volunteer photography team and other attendees for use on our website, social media, and future promotional materials. While we hope to capture everyone at some point, we can't guarantee that every attendee will be photographed.
We'd love to see the retreat through your eyes, too! Please share your favorite photos throughout the weekend by posting them on our Facebook page or GroupMe app. You can also email your pictures to [email protected]. Thank you for helping us capture the memories!
36. Will there be any medical assistance at the retreat? Bonclarken does not have medical staff on site. However, we are grateful to have Debbie Davis, our volunteer nurse, available to assist with minor medical needs, and Michelle Hipp, our on-site counselor, if you need someone to talk with or pray with during the weekend. Once you arrive, we will provide a campus emergency number as well as other contact numbers.
We also have a caring prayer team available, including Pastor Freddy Johnson, Kris Swiatocho, Pastor Wes Reed, Pastor Bryan Hipp, and Pastor Jay George. If you need prayer, encouragement, or assistance of any kind, please let one of our retreat leaders know, and we'll be happy to connect you with the appropriate person.
37. Will there be any kind of security at the retreat? For your safety, Bonclarken Security and our Retreat Team Security will be on campus throughout the retreat. In the event of a medical emergency, please call 911 immediately, then notify one of our retreat leaders so we can assist as needed. We do ask that you fill out the Bonclarken waiver.
38. What if I lose something while at the retreat? If you misplace an item, please check the Lost & Found, located at the YAB Information Table. If you find something that doesn't belong to you, we'd appreciate it if you'd turn it in there so we can help reunite it with its owner.
Note: Please keep track of your personal belongings throughout the weekend. Bonclarken Conference Center, The Singles Network Ministries, and Kris Swiatocho Ministries are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property or for any damage to vehicles while on campus. 39. What time does the retreat end on Monday? 9:30 am: Check out and breakfast in the YAB: Leave your key on a table in your room, or, if you are going to breakfast*, bring it to the YAB. Note: If you do not return your keys by check-out or lose your key, you will be billed $5 per room per person.
*Breakfast by Eggs Up Grill in the YAB for those who pre-paid for this meal (deadline is Sept 2nd, 2026); you are welcome to bring your own meal and join the fellowship. The coffee bar is open till 10:30 AM. 10:30 AM: Clean up/Closed

"Labor Day 2022 was my first time at the retreat, and the experience was fantastic. I met so many people and was able to establish some lifetime friendships. To hear Kris Swiatocho and Pastor Freddy Johnson speak and share the word of God was truly a blessing and everyone could feel God's presence.
