Funeral Details: Bob's Homegoing Celebration
Saturday, January 31st, 2026, 11am Lock Raven Presbyterian Church, Parkville, MD Q/Attend: Nelson Horine, [email protected] or 443.458.2840 Unfortunately, the funeral is not being recorded. We are honored that Bob designated donations to our Labor Day Retreat Scholarship fund. |
We are so deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our wonderful friend, Bob Horine. Bob faithfully attended our retreat for more than ten years, and every year he looked forward to it with such joy—often telling us how much it meant to him.
In recent years, when driving from Maryland became difficult, Bob thought he might have to stop coming. But praise the Lord for his friend Chad, who lovingly offered to drive him so he could continue to attend. If you ever met Bob, you would have loved him immediately. His joy was contagious, his spirit kind, and his love for the Lord evident in all he did. Recently, we spoke with his brother Nelson, who shared that Bob wanted to give back to our retreat—helping others who might not be able to afford to attend and supporting ministry expenses. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial gifts be made to Bob's home church and to the Labor Day Singles Retreat. We are honored and deeply grateful. You never truly know the impact of your life until stories like this remind you how God works through faithful hearts. Thank you, Bob—you will be greatly missed. Our loss on earth is truly heaven’s gain. |
OBITUARY
Robert “Bob” Horine, born March 5, 1946, in Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away on October 10, 2025. Bob grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania, and was a proud graduate of the University of Baltimore. A man of great faith, a wonderful brother, uncle, and cousin, a Ravens fan, a swing dancer, a lover of Applebee’s, and a man who cared more about helping others than himself, Bob made a great impact on everyone around him. After serving in the United States Navy, Bob spent much of his life working in county government. But as life went on, he found his greatest passion. Bob loved keeping his family connected across many locations, traveling all over to do so, and he found great comfort and passion in his faith and in serving God and his church. Bob gave to every charity he could and spent every moment he could lifting the hearts and spirits of anyone he came in contact with, pointing them toward Christ. He made a tremendous impact on an annual Christian retreat in the North Carolina mountains, where his joy, spirit, laughter, and deep love for the world were truly contagious. In his memory, donations can be made to the Bob Horine Scholarship Fund, made possible by the organization that hosted the retreat he loved so much, ELEV8 Labor Day Singles Christian Retreat. The scholarship in Bob’s name will ensure that others who can’t afford to attend the retreat can experience the community Bob loved so dearly, and will make this possible for years to come. Bob is survived by his brother, Nelson Horine II, his beloved nephews, and his cousins, Patty, Vickie, and T9C, all of Hagerstown. There will be a service on January 31st at Loch Raven Presbyterian Church in Parkville, Maryland.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

"Each year, I have been SO Richly Blessed and so filled with the Holy Spirit! The teaching is always excellent, and I come away knowing something new! I can sense the Holy Spirit present in the people there. I have made more friends attending these conferences for a brief time than in my entire lifetime time"
